Simple Southern Cube Steak
Looking for an easy, simple, and affordable weeknight dinner? Then this recipe is for you! My mother used to make us this classic southern cube steak recipe, and it was always a hit. Simple yet delicious, it can be paired with roasted veggies to complete the meal.
This recipe calls for our Bone Broth, which is made by slow simmering our knuckle and soup bones with herbs and spices to create a flavorful, nutrient-rich broth - its so flavorful in fact that you won't even need any extra seasoning for this recipe! It's worth noting that our bone broth is salted, so if you are using our broth or another salted broth, I recommend salting to taste once you have reduced down your gravy.
I know the recipe seems almost too simple, but that is what makes it an easy go-to for a quick family meal!
Ingredients:
- 1 package of LHF Cube Steak, or approximately 1 pound of cube steak
- 1 package of LHF Bone Broth, or appoximately 14 oz of broth/stock
- 3 tablespoons of flour
Directions:
-
Heat a skillet over medium/medium-high heat and coat it with cooking oil.
-
Remove the thawed cube steak from its packaging. Pat it dry with a paper towel. Lightly season it with salt or your favorite seasoning. Coat each steak with flour.
-
Cook the steak in the oil until brown on both sides. Once browned, add one package of LHF bone broth. Simmer until the meat is tender and the broth has reduced down to a gravy consistency.
-
Serve by spooning the gravy over each steak and enjoy with your favorite sides!
